Athlete Pedro Pichardo managed to win a silver medal in the triple jump at the Olympic Games this Friday.
Becoming Portugal’s fifth gold medallist, Pichardo joined fellow Olympic champions Carlos Lopes, Rosa Mota and Fernanda Ribeiro, as well as equestrian Luis Mena da Silva and canoeist Fernando Pimente in repeat podium finishes at the Games.
This is not Pichardot’s first medal. At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics became an Olympic champion. At the World Athletics Championships in the USA in July 2022, he became world champion, jumping 17.95 cm. In August 2022, in Munich, he managed to win the title of European Champion at the European Athletics Championships.
Pichardo won silver at Paris 2024 with 17.84m, which he achieved twice, two centimetres behind Spaniard Jordan Diaz (17.86), who replaced him after already beating him at the European Championships in Rome 2024, while the bronze medal went to Italy’s Andy Diaz with 17.64.
