PSP collected 173 firearms across the country during Operation Guns Safe Summer Tour, most of them hunting related, as well as 1,523 rounds of ammunition and cartridges, the corporation said Monday.
In its statement, the PSP summed up the results of the operation, which ran from July 22 to August 11 and was aimed at raising awareness of firearms ownership and use regulations, promoting licensing and gun collection.
According to the note, 103 police officers from the PSP weapons and explosives service carried out 94 actions in more than 50 municipalities in all districts of the mainland and in Madeira, in Sabugal, initiatives that “allowed the PSP to deliver to its owners and holders” the weapons and ammunition in question.
