The increase in the tax burden on taxpayers in Portugal has led to the tax-free day being set for June 13, later than 2023. Thus, the Portuguese work for almost half a year just to pay taxes, according to data News magazine.

Tax Free Day is “the day before which we work only to pay taxes, and after that all income is profit,” the newspaper writes.

The tax publication day was announced by the Instituto Económico Molinari based on calculations by the consulting company EY, cited by YNCalculations are made for the average salary of a single worker without children.

The highest tax burden is found in France, where the average worker’s tax-free day is July 17. In contrast, the lowest tax burden is found in Cyprus, where the tax-free day is April 21.
