The São Bernardo hospitals in Setúbal and Caldas da Rainha closed their obstetrics and gynaecology emergency departments this Wednesday, while the Abrantes hospital reopened its services, bringing the number of departments with closed services to four.
According to information published on the SNS portal at 9:00 a.m., a total of four hospitals have closed their emergency departments in mainland Portugal, with Nossa Senhora do Rosário (Barreiro) the only one in the country to close two departments (pediatrics and obstetrics and gynaecology).
Compared to Wednesday, the Dr. Manoel Constancia Hospital in Abrantes has reopened its emergency services in obstetrics and gynaecology, but the hospitals in Setúbal and Caldas da Ranhas have closed their emergency services in the same specialty this Thursday.
In the south of the country, the only registered air conditioning facility is in Portimão, where the emergency obstetrics department has been closed.
Although there are no more closures, several conditions remain: departments are classified as mentioned, services are reserved for internal emergencies and cases are referred by the Patient Emergency Centre (CODU) of the National Institute of Emergency Medicine (INEM) or through the SNS. 24.
The Professor Dutor Fernando Fonseca Hospital (Amadora-Sintra) has an Obstetrics and Gynecology Department (00:00/8:00 and 20:00/24:00) and a Pediatrics Department (00:00/8:00 and 20:00/20:00/24:00), while the São Francisco Xavier Hospital (Lisbon West) has an Obstetrics and Gynecology Emergency Department from 00:00/9:00 to 21:00/00:00.
This Thursday, the Viseu Pediatric Service Pediatric Department is also available from 20:15 to 23:00.
The emergency obstetric services at Santa Maria Hospital (central Lisbon) and the obstetrics and gynaecology services at Garcia de Orta Hospital (Almada) are available during the day only to receive cases indicated by INEM.
