This Friday, Sporting thrashed Farense 5-0 in the third round of the First Football League, with Swedish striker Victor Gyökeres scoring a hat-trick.
Gyökeres scored 27, 41 (from the penalty spot) and 66 to top the scorers’ list with six goals, with Lucas Afríco scoring his fourth with 69 and Edwards closing the scoring at 81, in a game in which the Green and Whites secured their third consecutive victory over a Farense side who had yet to score in the league.
The win leaves Sporting temporarily top of the standings with nine points, three more than the quartet of Porto, Famalicao, Moreirense and Vitoria de Guimarães, while Farense sits in 18th and last place with no points added.
