A 21-year-old man died this Sunday in a car accident that occurred on Estrada Nacional 389 (EN389) in the municipality of Ourique, Beja district, said sources from the Civil Protection and the GNR.
A source from the Subregional Command of Emergency and Civil Protection of Baixo Alentejo told Lusa that the accident, which was alerted at 2:05 p.m., occurred on EN 389 at kilometer 30 in the Union of the Parishes of Garvana and Santa Luzia, in the municipality of Ourique.
The road was closed to traffic but was reopened at 3:42 p.m., about an hour and 40 minutes after it was closed due to the accident.
The same source also reported that at 15:25 traffic in both directions remained blocked.
A source from the Beja territorial command of the NTC contacted by Lusa said the deceased was the only passenger in the emergency vehicle.
The relief operations involved 21 responders, including firefighters, members of the National Institute of Emergency Medicine (INEM) and GNR troops, supported by nine vehicles, including the Beja Ambulance and Resuscitation Vehicle (VMER) and the Basic Support Ambulance de Vida (SIV), also from Beja.
