US President Joe Biden said on Monday during his visit to the Ukrainian capital Kyiv that “Ukraine will continue to win” and that “the world has come together” to help the captured country.
“We all help Ukraine defend itself […] It’s nice to see that Kyiv is still standing after a year,” he said.
Biden’s unexpected visit to the Ukrainian capital was the first since the beginning of the armed conflict in the East. Because of the impending danger, Biden’s departure was kept secret until his arrival. I am very happy to be here,” the President of the United States admitted in an address to the press.
Biden took the opportunity to highlight the courage of the Ukrainian population and never ceased to mourn the loss of life due to the war. “Ukrainians every day remind the world what it means to have courage. It’s just amazing […] This demonstrates that freedom is priceless,” he added.
“We are not afraid, and no one should be afraid. Russia was wrong, isolated and suffering,” he concluded.
Joe Biden announced new support measures for Ukraine on Monday, focusing on a new package and more than $500 million earmarked for military equipment.
It should be remembered that the war began on February 24 last year, leaving a trail of destruction across Ukraine, with thousands of dead and helpless citizens.
