United States President Joe Biden spoke on Tuesday afternoon at the Royal Castle in Warsaw, Poland, days before the anniversary of the war in Ukraine.
“Ukraine will never be defeated by Russia because free peoples refuse to live in oppression,” he said.
The US president left words of support for Ukraine and assured Putin in response that those who unleashed the war would be held accountable. “Attack one of us [países que compõem a NATO]is to attack us all,” he repeated.
Biden assured that U.S. support for the occupied country would not dwindle and took the opportunity to thank Poland for accepting Ukrainian refugees.
Putin also addressed the nation Tuesday morning to assess the course of the military campaign in Ukraine and the international situation, announcing the suspension of Russia’s participation in the nuclear arms control treaty. This was the first address of the President of Russia to the population in almost two years.
The speeches of the two leaders were delivered three days before the first anniversary of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, which began in the early hours of February 24, 2022.
