The Judicial Police (PJ) detained a man and a woman suspected of crimes of theft, kidnapping and violation of qualified physical integrity, in addition to several thefts that occurred in the municipality of Penamacor, Castelo Branco district.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the joint venture refers to the fact that the action passed through the Criminal Investigation Department of the Guard, during which a man and a woman, aged 31 and 37, were arrested.
According to the judiciary’s memo, the suspects are “categorically accused of being co-authors of the crimes of robberies, kidnappings and qualified attacks on physical integrity committed on January 15, in which heavy physical force was used against the victims.”
The joint venture clarifies that the events took place in the home of the victims, an elderly couple.
It also found “strong indications” indicating that the suspects are also “alleged perpetrators of six theft crimes, five of which are qualified, that occurred in the municipality of Penamacore between July 2022 and January of this year,” he adds. .
The detainees will be presented to the competent judicial authorities with a view to applying appropriate coercive measures.
