Brothers Ana and Pedro Valgode are world champions in figure skating.

Portuguese duo Ana Valgode and Pedro Valgode today became World Figure Skating Champions in pair dance at the 2022 World Skate Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina, taking Portugal’s third medal in the competition.

The couple that won first place in the “dance style” competition regained their first place in the “free dance” competition by winning the world title.

“We deserve a lot and this season we have managed to become World Games Champions, European Champions, National Champions and World Champions,” said Ana Valgode in a statement released by the Portuguese Skating Federation (FPP).

For Pedro Valgode, this achievement means “recognition of all the work done” over the years, emphasizing that “achieving a world title at such a time with five gold medals was the icing on the cake.”

For his part, the technical director of figure skating, Filipe Sereno, believes that the balance of the dance specialty in the competitions that take place in the Argentine capital is “extremely positive”, stressing that “during the competition, the Portuguese athletes managed to achieve mastery.”

The coach stressed that “this gold medal is a historic result” as Portugal took first place in the World Championships for senior dance couples for the first time and will certainly be “encouragement and encouragement for Portuguese athletes in the future.”

José Raimundo, Vice President of Figure Skating of the FPP, highlighted this “significant moment for Portugal” with winning the world title at the highest level of sport and congratulated the work that has been done so far, as a couple and on the breeders and the technical and medical staff .

FPP President Luis Senica was in Buenos Aires watching the competition and “congratulated the Portuguese athletes on winning the title,” the FPP said.
