A 64-year-old man was detained by the GNR on suspicion of physical and psychological abuse against his partner, 49, in the municipality of Portel, Évora district, these security forces said this Monday.
A GNR Évora Territorial Command statement said the suspect was arrested on Thursday as part of an investigation into domestic violence.
The GNR also found that “there were episodes of threats” from the suspect, which allegedly caused “fear and anxiety” in the victim.
The investigation, conducted by the guards, ended with the execution of a warrant for the arrest of the suspect.
The man was present at the Évora court, which imposed on him, as a coercive measure, the obligation to remain in a house controlled by an electronic bracelet.
