Teachers complain to the General Inspectorate of Education and the GPU about school directors

Teachers’ unions intend to file a complaint with the General Inspectorate for Education and the Prosecutor General’s Office against school principals, whom they accuse of “illegal” use of minimum services, citing the example of teachers who are not allowed to attend family funerals.

“What is happening in the schools is absolutely unacceptable,” said Mario Nogueira, secretary general of the National Federation of Teachers (Fenprof), saying there are school principals from the north to the south of the country who are illegally applying “minimum services.” “.

At a press conference attended by nine union structures gathered on the platform, Mario Nogueira said that various unions had received reports of “teachers being threatened with unjustified absences” and cases of “teachers being turned into real substitute picketers”. .

“Minimum services can only be activated if necessary, but principals do not allow teachers to attend medical consultations, funerals of close relatives or union meetings,” he said.

“We demand that the ministry put an end to these situations. We demand that directors respect the law,” said Mario Nogueira.

In addition to submitting these “specific cases” to the ministry, trade unions “send complaints to the General Inspectorate for Education and the Prosecutor General’s Office”, cases that can be transferred to “disciplinary proceedings or investigative processes”.

“There are very different situations in schools, but I think that there are such cases in all regions of the country,” added Mario Nogueira.

The union platform said it would also file a complaint against the guardianship authorities for requesting minimal services during the two days of the strike, which took place March 2 in the north of the country and March 3 in the south.
