A group of mothers gathered this Monday in front of the Brito Pais school in Amadora to protest against the ATL director who allegedly mistreats children.
Katarina, one of the mothers, explained CMTV that his own son had complained of aggression from his wife, and also admitted that other colleagues had also been attacked.
There are reports that the monitor has stuffed paper balls into children’s mouths when they cried loudly, and even splashed a glass of water in a girl’s face.
The mothers say they have videos and text messages confirming attacks that have occurred since the monitor took up his duties just over a year ago. They were initially told about the incidents by staff members who no longer work at the school.
They say that children will not go to school if the monitor is working tomorrow.
Those responsible for education also report poor coordination on the part of ATL “Sopro de Sonhos” itself, which does not provide them with timely information on logistical issues such as timetables and regulations.
Complaints have already been filed with the school’s coordination, but nothing has been done.
The mothers vow to go to the police this Monday and file individual complaints about the attacks on either the monitor or the ATL coordinator, who claim to have known about the situation and did nothing. They demand that the monitor, who is also a music teacher in Odivelas, be removed from any work with children.
