TAP employees propose to use compensation from Alexandra Reis for work in the company’s kindergarten

TAP unions oppose the closure of the company’s kindergarten, and the team is proposing to use compensation received from Alexandra Reis for construction work, according to two communiqués released this Thursday.

In an appeal to colleagues, the National Union of Civil Aviation Pilots (SNPVAC) proposed to send the compensation collected from Alexandra Reis to the necessary work “for the purpose of licensing the kindergarten.”

The Aviation and Airport Workers Union (Sitava) also commented on the issue, citing that it was “invited to a videoconference meeting where other trade unions were also present”, in which the carrier stated that “there are very few conditions in the TAP kindergarten that Social Security requires major work in order to be able to license it, and that even to carry out these works it would have to close the kindergarten for a while.

According to Sitava, PTP “in the face of all the identified difficulties, instead of trying to solve them, unilaterally decided to close the kindergarten and force employees to send their children to two kindergartens abroad from August 1. .. entered into a contract for this purpose on the same terms.”

SNPVAC, for its part, said the company “cannot argue that the absence of cases justifies that the protocol developed does not include ‘saving overnight stays and weekends’, especially when using the 2021/22 academic year barometer as a benchmark. year in which the operation began its recovery.

“We urge the company to be at least consistent as 2019 is being used to justify layoffs and pay cuts, so it is using the same time frame to justify decisions that, again, do not protect the family. life and the specifics of the profession,” the GNPVAK said in a statement.

Sitava also criticized the company’s intentions. “It is known that TAP has long intended to do away with this important right of workers and has found an excellent opportunity to do so during the recent dream of moving the company’s headquarters to a luxurious building in Parque das Nasuens, a circumstance that, as we know, with Sitava’s great commitment, this did not materialize,” he said.

Sitava also said that TAP claims that the new airport will force the company to leave and that “doing work in this place means throwing money away,” but for the union, this is “a lie.”

“Even if there is a new airport, we will be in the stronghold of the TAP for at least another ten years. Therefore, there is enough time to amortize the necessary retraining work,” he assured.

Thus, Sitava suggested “taking advantage of the enrollment already conducted in two kindergartens from August next year, so that the PTR starts work on retraining at the same time and that in August 2024 all the children of the PTR return to the renovated kindergarten.”

SNPVAC said it gives the company the benefit of the doubt and wants to “also believe that this position of closing the kindergarten can be closely linked to the former CEO.” [Christine Ourmières-Widener, exonerada esta semana]”.

“So we believe that if we want to act or in any way oppose this measure, then now is the time, not least because the entry of a new CEO [Luís Silva Rodrigues] may offer a different perspective on this matter,” he stressed, adding that “since he understands that this decision concerns all employees of the group who are still subject to completely unreasonable emergency agreements”, he has already requested “meetings with other unions TAP groups to discuss future measures.”
