Former football reporter Gomez Amaro dies

Gomez Amaro, a former football reporter for FC Porto, passed away this Thursday at the age of 85. The announcer provided the voice for football in the 70s and 90s on TSF Radio and Press Radio.

Following the news of Gomez Amaro’s death, the club sent out a post to express their condolences. “A voice that accompanied many Porto fans in the afternoon on the radio. Rest in peace, Gomez Amaro,” you can read it. The post was accompanied by an announcer’s report.

The reporter became known for his distinctive accent and for noting the history of radio football reporting.

Funeral ceremonies begin this Friday. The body will be delivered toburning flame in the funeral chapel of Igreja Matriz de Espinho at 15:00, and the funeral will take place on Saturday at 12:15.
