Madrid hit-and-run suspects not invited to wedding

Police rule out man responsible for hit-and-run that killed four

Spanish police rule out a fugitive in a case of a four-person fatal hit-and-run on Sunday in the Madrid area by a Portuguese man already in custody, according to police sources cited by the EFE news agency.

According to information published by the Spanish press on Sunday, citing sources in the Spanish Civil Guard, in addition to the detained Portuguese who was driving, in Torrejon de Ardoz, on the outskirts of Madrid, four people were knocked down, another 18 people. -year-old man, the driver’s nephew, was also in the car and fled.

However, this Monday, the Spanish National Police, which has since been referred to the case, ruled out the involvement of the driver’s nephew in the hit-and-run, as an investigation carried out in the meantime concluded that, according to police sources cited by news agency EFE, he was not in the car. .

The Portuguese man was detained by the Guardia Civil on Sunday on suspicion of being hit by a fatal car after he fled the scene with two minor children in the car.

The man was handed over to the National Police, and two minor children, aged 16 and 17, who accompanied him, were handed over by the authorities to their mother.

According to the same information released this Monday by EFE, both the man and the children are Portuguese, but a source at the Portuguese embassy in Madrid told Lusa that the detainee has Portuguese papers and the minors have Spanish ones.

The Gypsy Secretariat Foundation, a Spanish organization, this Monday denounced the trampling and asked that the ethnicity of those involved in such activities not be mentioned.

“We strongly condemn yesterday’s murder of four people. [domingo] in Torrejon de Ardoz, we sympathize with the families of the victims and ask the media to adequately interpret these facts, avoiding the mention of ethnicity in such events, ”the foundation said in a message posted on social networks.
