Three people arrested on Wednesday in Castelo Branco, suspected of crimes related to human trafficking and slavery, as part of an investigation by the Ministry of State (MP), will await trial in pre-trial detention.
The information was revealed this Monday by the Deputy of Castelo Branco in a note published on the official website of this institution on the Internet.
“Three arrests were made on March 29, 2023, as part of an ongoing investigation in the 1st Investigation Division of Castelo Branco,” the note reads.
After the first judicial interrogation, the defendants were subjected to preventive measures in the form of pre-trial detention.
The MP explained that the three detainees were “strongly accused” of committing two crimes related to human trafficking and two crimes related to slavery.
According to the MP, the facts happened between 1999 and 2022.
The investigation is being conducted by the Deputy of Castelo Branco, in cooperation with the Directorate of the Judicial Police Center.
