The operation of the Navy, the Maritime Administration and the Air Force led to the capture of two more high-speed boats, which will be associated with the international hashish trade. There were no drugs on the ships, but a large number of fuel canisters were loaded. Nine suspects were detained, all Moroccans. cm.
The speedboats and the suspects were twice approached by a device designed to control the importation of drugs across the southern maritime border. One of the speedboats was intercepted by members of the Marine Boarding Platoon, and the other by members of the NCIS Tactical Action Team. The operations were carried out in international waters, about 40 nautical miles (74 km) south of Portugal. The ships and the suspects were taken to the port of Faro for investigation.
As a result of this operation, more than 40 suspects have already been detained as a result of joint actions of the marine police, navy and air force off the coast of the Algarve. More than 22 tons of hashish and almost two dozen drug launches have already been seized.
