According to data released by the Tributária e Aduaneira (AT), taxpayers have already filed more than 1.4 million IRS returns since the filing deadline.
The IRS campaign for 2022 income began on April 1, with 1,412,305 returns filed by 01:00 Monday, according to statistics available on the Financial Portal.
The same data shows that the majority of these declarations (1,162,683) come from people who last year received income only in categories A and / or H, that is, from work for others and from pensions.
Taxpayers with other types of income, namely category B (green receipts), income or capital, have submitted 249,622 annual tax returns to date.
The annual IRS filing deadline is June 30, and as the Treasury Department announced early last week, by the end of the first day of the campaign, April 1, 418,200 returns had already been filed, of which 54% were through the Automatic IRS.
Unlike what has happened in previous years, there has been no change this time regarding the type of taxpayers that are covered by the automatic IRS.
Like last year, the first reimbursements should start to be paid in the first half of April.
In 2022, according to the budget execution data released by the Directorate General of the Budget, IRS refunds amounted to €3,523.5 million, an increase of €683.5 million compared to the previous year.
