Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva stressed this Wednesday that he condemns the Russian invasion of Ukraine while defending the world after his statements were criticized by the US and the European Union.
“At the same time that my government condemns the violation of the territorial integrity of Ukraine, we defend the agreed political solution. I spoke about our concerns about the consequences of the war, which extend beyond the European continent,” Lula da Silva said after meeting with Romanian President Claus Iohannis at the Planalto Palace in Brasilia, quoted by the local press.
Hosting a dinner for the head of the Romanian state, a member of NATO and the European Union, the President of Brazil assured that he “listened with great interest to the considerations of President Iohannis on the war in Ukraine, the country with which Romania has more than 600 kilometers of border.”
