The search for the 25-year-old, who went missing on Tuesday at sea on a beach in Ovar, Aveiro district, was resumed at 08:00, but with fewer funds, a source in the captaincy of the local port said.
Speaking to Luza, Conceição Dias, Commander of the Aveiro Port Captaincy, said the plan for today is “to prioritize searches along the 20-kilometre coastline, from Espinho to Torrão do Lameiro, in Murtos.”
For the third day on the sea and on land, a search is underway for a young man of Brazilian citizenship who disappeared at sea in the area between Cortegas Sul beach and San Pedro de Maceda beach, in the municipality of Ovar.

In addition to ground searches with all-terrain vehicles, there are jet skis in the surf area, and a boat from the Salva Vidas station to Aveiro, in a more remote area.
The commander also said that a psychologist of the Maritime Police was already involved, who “has already provided psychological support to both friends who were with the missing person and relatives of the missing person in Brazil.”
While there is still hope to bring the young man back alive, Conceição Dias said that 36 hours have passed since the disappearance, “which is the maximum survival time in situations like this”, adding that based on the experience of previous cases in this area. , “usually the bodies drift south and end up on the shore.”
The young man, who has been missing since 4 p.m. Tuesday, entered the water with a friend who barely managed to get out on his own. The alarm was raised by a third friend who stayed on the beach.
The search began immediately, with about 40 operators supported by an Air Force helicopter, three jet skis, a boat from the Salva Vidas station in Aveiro and another from the Espinho fire department, as well as members of the Maritime Police. and firefighters on land.
On Wednesday, the operation was carried out at sea and on land over an area of about 100 square kilometers and was reinforced by the Portuguese Navy’s hydrographic ship D. Carlos I, which was conducting searches in an area further from the coast.
