‘A Kind and Committed Feminist’: Who is Hannah Leach, the One Missing After the Sinking of a Luxury Yacht in Sicily

Days pass and hope of finding Hannah Leach alive fades. Hannah’s father’s luxury yacht, British tech magnate Mike Lynch, sank Monday off the coast of Sicily, Italy. There were 22 people on board, 15 were rescued, six died. Hannah is currently the only one missing.

The girl was on the Italian coast, celebrating with her father after a businessman won a fraud case. He also had reasons to celebrate the next stage of his life. According to Hannah, she was preparing to study English at Oxford University, having recently passed her entrance exams. Jonathan Bloomer, Morgan Stanley’s international director, his wife Judy, lawyer Chris Morvillo and his wife, jewelry designer Neda Morvillo, and Recaldo Tomas, the yacht’s cook, is one of the remaining five people who died in the sinking.

The 56-metre luxury yacht Bayesian was caught in a severe storm. However, experts are not sure why the large yacht sank so quickly.

Italian authorities are investigating the incident.
