Parliament opens its doors to the public on 25 April.

The President of the Assembly of the Republic marked this Saturday the opening of the Parliament to the public on Tuesday afternoon as part of the celebration of the Revolution of April 25, 1974, with a program including musical and educational events.

These references by the former Minister of State and Foreign Affairs, Augusto Santos Silva, to the day of the national holiday on April 25 in Parliament are contained in a video he recorded, which was published on his Twitter account.

“On Tuesday, we celebrate April 25 in the Assembly of the Republic, like every April 25. This celebration, as usual, includes the afternoon period when the doors of the Assembly of the Republic are open to all those who want to visit Parliament,” he said.

Augusto Santos Silva later indicated that it would be possible to get to know the parliament “from the inside, up close”, namely “the plenary hall, the Senate, the corridors, everything in the parliament that can be visited”.

“Parliament is the home of the Portuguese,” he stressed in his message, before referring to the program of celebrations scheduled for Tuesday afternoon in the Assembly of the Republic.

“We will have events focusing on pedagogy, including planting carnations, or music, including jazz or classical music. Doors will open at 15:30 and close at 18:30,” he specified.

The Chairman of the Assembly of the Republic left an appeal to citizens in general.

“The doors are open for everyone, for families, for people of all ages, for those who, visiting parliament, visit their homes. Come to us,” he added.
