On Tuesday, the Supervisory Board of the Information System of the Portuguese Republic (SIRP) explained that, on its own initiative, it requested information about the intervention of the Information and Security System (SIS) in case of recovery of a computer assigned to a former deputy government with classified information.
In a released memo, the SIRP Review Board clarified that following the news release on the 18th of SIS’ involvement in the restoration of the government laptop, “immediate and self-initiated steps were taken to obtain information. necessary for the fulfillment of its oversight mission.
The laptop in question was attributed to Frederico Pinheiro, a former aide to minister João Galamba, who was fired after a disagreement over delivering documents to the TAP parliamentary committee of inquiry.
In a published note, SIRP’s supervisory board also says that its activities are “legally classified and closed.”
