The European Commission is trying to revise contracts with pharmaceutical companies for the supply of vaccines against Covid-19, since vaccination is carried out at much lower values than those recorded at the beginning of the pandemic. According to the Ministry of Health, Portugal has one of the lowest “European-level disability rates”, around 8.5%. Between 2020 and 2022, 40 million doses of vaccines were delivered to our country (out of 61.7 million ordered until 2023), of which only 28.5 million were used to vaccinate the Portuguese population. About 8.1 million vaccines were donated and 2.6 million were resold.
