MBE, OBE and CBE are awarded for the achievements of great sporting heroes, with recipients going to see Her Majesty The Queen at Buckingham Palace.

Lewis Hamilton
The seven-time F1 champion spoke at a luncheon he was invited to attend with the monarch a year after earning his MBE in 2008.
She reveals how the butler took the queen’s robe from the queen for table manners before accidentally stepping on one of the dogs.

“So I was excited, that’s great. I sat down and he was on my right side. I started talking to him. He said:
He talked to the guy next to me for about 5 minutes and then to me the rest of the time.
“I had the best lunch with him. It was amazing. I think one of the butlers stepped on the dog.”
“I always remember the dog screaming because someone accidentally stepped on it.”

Farah, a four-time Olympic gold medalist, may be one of the most famous British athletes of the last decade, but the queen knew who she was when she first met him.
Farah said: “Prince Harry was there. He’s a great character, always smiling. He’s a good guy. I remember Harry saying to the queen, ‘Stop.’ [running]”
“And he said, ‘Mo, why are you stopping?
And he said, “Leave him alone, he ran too much.” He surprised me because he somehow knew who I was. ”
david beckham
Former England and Manchester United player Beckham, who earned his OBE in 2003, said he was always emotional when he met Her Majesty.
“Picking up my OBE was one of my proudest moments,” he said.
“It was a special day for me because I brought my grandparents and I was proud to take them to a place that they have loved all their lives.
“Meeting the Queen, nothing more.”
“I can feel the emotion. I can personally feel the emotion because I love everything about the Queen and what she stands for.”
Roger Federer
The 20-time Grand Slam champion met the Queen in 2010 when the British monarch visited the All England Club for the first time in 30 years.
“I had lunch with the Queen. It was exciting,” he said.
“It was a great honour. He looked up to Andy Murray and I think they planned everything around him.”
“He was very sweet, very sweet and, of course, very polite, and he was very nice to be around.”
Anthony Joshua
British boxing champion Anthony Joshua recalled how he complimented the Queen’s dress while preparing to watch ‘The Crown’ on Netflix for a meeting with the Queen…but…he claimed he wasn’t cheating!
He explains:
“But when I met him, I realized that he was a really normal person. What we see today is a young woman who once had to learn the role from her.
I said, “Hello,” and I said, “How are you?”
“Then I said that I know you’re very busy so I won’t talk to you for a long time, and I told her that her dress looked very good in her eyes.
He wasn’t flirting with her! He was very respectful, she thanked me for coming and told me that she gave a great speech.
“I really didn’t expect him to be like, ‘By the way, hit that one. [Tyson] Rage!
However, there are parts of The Crown where he is encouraged to get to know the public as he grows up, one of them being a British champion boxer.
On the show, he put his mom down and I was like, ‘My God, that’s what he thinks of me.
“I really wasn’t impressed. When I met him, I knew there wasn’t much I could do to impress him.”
