A report from the Houston Health Department, which was responsible for inspecting the pool to analyze the cause of the accident, identified safety problems. The department required the hotel to prove that legal standards were followed. According to the document, the hotel pool was not inspected before opening to customers. The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences ruled the child’s death an accidental drowning, but the autopsy report is pending.
The family demanded compensation of approximately one million euros from the hotel chain.
