Rio de Janeiro Mayor Eduardo Páez said on Monday that Portugal was the inspiration behind the Brazilian city’s transformation into the “innovation capital of Latin America” through a web summit.
“Portugal has become the main hub in the world and we want it to happen here in Rio,” said Eduardo Paes of the Portuguese Consulate General in Rio de Janeiro at a meeting that was attended by more than a hundred authorities and “ startups” at the event “Pre-conference session of the Portuguese delegation of the web summit in Rio”.
In a session that served as a presentation of the 25 “startups” that will participate in the web summit in Rio from Monday to Thursday, Eduardo Páez assured that Portugal was his source of inspiration for the web summit in Rio de Janeiro.
