Recent Ukrainian drone attacks on targets deep within Russia have been downplayed by influential Russian commentators, some of whom point to US involvement in the offensive.
In the program “Grande Jogo”, which aired on the First (state) channel on Tuesday evening, military expert and editor of the Arsenal da Pátria magazine, Alexei Leonkov, said that “drones” [aeronaves não-tripuladas] used by the Ukrainian armed forces “were conceived during the Soviet Union as reconnaissance of an enemy camp, and now converted into medium-range missiles.”
According to the same expert, the actions taken by the Ukrainians this Tuesday and Monday “are designed to divert attention from the front of the battle and draw the media to secondary events that do not affect the course of the war.”
