Traffic has already been reopened at IP2 near Monforte.

A section of Main Route 2 (IP2) near Monforte, in the Portalegre area, which was cut off after flooding due to bad weather, has already reopened to traffic, GNR said.

A source from the GNR Territorial Command in Portalegre explained that this section of the road connecting Portalegre and Estremoz was cut early in the morning at km 203.

The section was reopened to traffic “around 11 a.m.”, initially with a Guards patrol, which later returned to normal, he added.

In a note published this Tuesday on the GNR Territorial Command Facebook page, it is indicated that due to adverse weather conditions, roads are closed in the municipalities of Arronche, Monforte, Elvas, Campo Mayor, Avis, Crato, Portalegre. and Castelo de Vide.

On Tuesday, Portalegre received a red warning posted by the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), while other areas of Alentejo, Beja and Évora have an orange warning due to bad weather.

Civil Protection warned on Monday of the possibility of flooding and increased river flow in the areas of Leiria, Setúbal, Lisbon, Évora, Santarém and Portalegre.
