A 16-year-old youth was arrested on “strong indications” of committing a crime of child pornography on the island of São Miguel in the Azores, the Judicial Police (PJ) announced this Thursday.
According to the Department of Criminal Investigations of PJ dos Açores, the suspect was arrested “for possession of pornographic videos involving children.”
According to the press release, the police investigation “began based on information received through the international cooperation mechanism, which stated that the detained man had shared pornographic files involving children via the Internet.”
“During a home search conducted on the island of San Miguel, the victim’s computer equipment was discovered containing dozens of videos and photographs depicting children, mostly under 10 years of age, engaged in pornographic activities,” the SP said.
The detainee will be brought to the judicial authorities to apply “appropriate coercive measures,” the SP added.
