The Ministry of Agriculture and Food announced this Saturday that €397 million was disbursed to the agroforestry and fisheries sector in November through the Institute for Agriculture and Fisheries Finance (IFAP).
The executive statement also said that payments totaling around €400 million were made under PEPAC 23.27 (Common Agricultural Policy Strategic Plan) between October and November.
According to updated data, this amount includes support for basic income, payments to small farmers, support for agricultural activities in disadvantaged areas, support for livestock and the beekeeping sector.
In the context of the PDR2020 (Program for Rural Development), the implementation of which has “reached 85%”, the Ministry of Maria do Seu Antunes states that another 24 million euros were transferred to farmers in November to implement investment measures.
Regarding the MAR2020 program, which has “exceeded 92%” implementation, payments totaling €7.9 million were made to the fisheries and aquaculture sector this month.
“Between October and November, we were able to secure advance payments equivalent to approximately 45% of the total amount associated with the Single Application. But I also highlight what is happening under MAR 2030, with the opening of notifications that will prove the focus on its effective implementation in the service of fisheries,” the Minister of Agriculture and Food was quoted as saying in the statement.
According to Maria do Seu Antunes, “this should be […] to enormous operational efforts and sectoral collaboration” and is “based on the conviction” that it is necessary to “continue to monitor and expand commitment and entrepreneurship in agriculture and fisheries in Portugal.”
According to the ministry, “payments under PU2023 [Pedido Único]according to the calendar published by IFAP, will continue in January and February with an estimated additional cost of approximately 500 million euros.”
