British police are in France searching for the mother and grandfather of an English child found six years after she disappeared in Spain, a newspaper reports. Daily mail.
Alex Batty disappeared at the age of 11 while on holiday with his mother and grandfather in southern Spain. Since then, the family members have not been seen again. In 2018, the young man’s grandmother told BBC who believed that his mother and grandfather took him to a spiritual community in Morocco.
On Wednesday, after a medical student found him in a mountainous area, the minor told authorities he had been in France for two years. Alex, now 17, was healthy and insisted he had not suffered any abuse.
This Friday, Manchester Police detectives traveled to Ariège, a French region known for the spread of cults and sects. British authorities also want to question Alex to find out the whereabouts of his 37-year-old mother and 58-year-old grandfather.
The young man is expected to return to England in the coming days and reconnect with his grandmother, with whom he spoke via video link on Thursday.
