Buildings come to life! Find out how Lisbon residents manage their neighborhoods

Lisbon is made up of neighborhoods, streets, buildings and doors, each with its own personality and unique history. And it is the people living and coexisting there that give soul to these common spaces that belong to everyone.

For Gebalis, the company that manages 66 neighborhoods in the capital, preserving public spaces goes far beyond simple aesthetic actions. This is an important element, and it depends on the participation of residents who take care of their neighborhoods as carefully as they take care of their homes.

“We try to keep everything clean, even though we have a small staff. That was not easy. Some people here, next door, neighbors, are also helping. We have to do our part,” says Fabio Costa of San Francisco. Vicente Parish Council.

Buildings come to life!

In 2019, Gebalis created the program Lots with life, with the goal of promoting community intervention, education and resident participation in the organization and management of the buildings in which they live. All residents are invited to participate in meetings held with various agencies regarding their building and area.

“The program promotes collective organization of buildings through the collaboration of residents and partners. This collective organization has a powerful impact on shared spaces so that everyone can have a healthier collective experience,” says Marlene Almeida of Community Intervention Projects. .

In turn, the Lotes Com Vida program encourages choice package manager for each building in order to strengthen the unity of residents in preserving space.

“It is important to have a site manager so that everything goes better. All this for the rest of our lives, after all, this is where we live,” shares Elizabeth Garcia, site manager in the Boavista area.

Unity is strength

ABOUT A Guide to Good Neighbors is another innovative tool created by Gebalis as a way to promote unity and good coexistence among residents.

“This is a guide created in collaboration with the residents of the Armador area. It brings together the civic behavior we have been working on with residents around the proper use of shared spaces and good neighborly relationships,” says Angela Martins of Gebalis. View of da Bela’s office.

This individual awareness of each resident increasingly enhances the sense of community, which translates into a shared sense of concern for the neighborhoods and the well-being of the population. Lively neighborhoods made up of many lives!
