Nearly 10,000 companies notified by ACT as part of its crackdown on precarious work have until this Friday to reconcile 17,701 workers with fake green slips.
Earlier this month, ACT announced it had notified 9,699 companies that it would need to regulate the employment of 17,701 independent workers considered economically dependent, meaning service providers who concentrate 80% or more of their income in one business.
Dependent workers identified during the anti-insecurity exercise have been informed of a notice sent to the organizations to which they provide services, with the latter expected to regularize their employment relations by this Friday.
“At the end of this period, ACT will carry out a new review of the correctness of labor relations and job security, initiating an appropriate verification action to ensure compliance with current legislation if the situation has not been resolved within the specified period,” he explained to ACT.
In a statement released after ACT’s action was announced, the Association Against Precarity and Insecurity (ACP-PI) reported cases of “blackmail” against workers where companies wanted them to “accept contracts that include very high wages.” what they received without recognizing the seniority of the labor relationship.”
“Messages were also received from notified state-owned companies, but since the relevant administrations were not authorized by the Ministry of Finance to resolve dangerous situations, they simply canceled the provision of services,” he explained.
Speaking to Lusa, Daniel Carapau of the Precários Inflexíveis association said that he had no data on the number of workers whose employment had already been regulated, adding that workers who had informed ACT about what companies were offering them had not, however, received a response from the body .
“People are reporting these violations but getting no response from ACT,” he said.
Daniel Carapau also said the association continues to await ACT’s response to its request for a meeting with Labor Inspector General Maria Fernando Campos “to evaluate this problem and possible solutions that protect workers.”
In response to Lusa, an official AT source stated that the dismissal of independent workers by the contracting organization “does not condition” its action on verification, as well as the promotion by the prosecutor’s office of actions to recognize the existence of an employment contract before the start of the Labor Court.
The same source also added that a meeting of the Association to Combat Instability – Unstable Inflexible Sites “will be promptly scheduled by the ACT Inspector General”, also noting that the association “has not yet identified any specific situation”.
