The new production of Teatro dos Aloés is already on stage at the Recreios da Amadora. “The Illusionists,” by Catalan playwright Luisa Cunillier, tells the story of three brothers who travel through a world of magic and the creation of “alternate realities.” Alfredo makes a living performing stunts, Agatha is his assistant and also sings, Alicia writes novels “that are read in the bath.”
“I was drawn to this mysterious and somewhat surreal text and, above all, to these fragile characters who tell us a story that may or may not be true,” he adds. “Let the viewer decide for himself.”
As part of World Theater Day celebrations, there will be a special screening of this performance on Tuesday at 21:00, tickets for which will cost three euros.
On stage, Andre Nunez, Patricia Andre and Elsa Valentim embody these characters, “whose goal is to create illusions in others, but who, deep down, are also deluded,” as he explains CM directed by Jorge Silva.
