A senior U.S. Defense Department official who attended last year’s NATO summit showed symptoms similar to those reported by U.S. officials who experienced Havana syndrome, the Pentagon said Monday.
Havana syndrome is still under investigation, but it involves a number of health problems dating back to 2016, when U.S. Embassy staff in Havana reported sudden unexplained pressure in the head, headache or ear pain, and dizziness.
Health concerns for senior U.S. officials or their families were reported in a report on CBS’s “60 Minutes” on Sunday that suggested Russia was behind the incidents, one of which occurred during the 2023 summit in Vilnius.
