The Securities Market Commission (CMVM) warned this Wednesday that fraudulent email messages are being circulated that misuse the regulator’s name and image.
“Using the name and logo of CMVM, the messages seek payment of improper amounts in the name of CMVM,” the regulator warned in its statement, adding that these were “fraudulent messages” and that “checks will be carried out with the competent authorities.”
“Contacts made by CMVM are made exclusively through senders with the domain @cmvm.pt, and these are the only legitimate addresses,” he emphasizes.
If you receive one of these messages which appear to be a “fraud scheme” by which “persons unknown to CMVM intend to obtain improper benefits, please ignore it” and you should not take any action requested, download any attachments . or follow the links provided in this message, the regulator warns.
In case of doubt or suspicion of attempted fraud, CMVM requests that you “contact immediately” via the investor support line 800 205 339 or by email [email protected].
