A man died this Sunday after being hit by a vehicle on the Northern Line in Espinho, Aveiro district, due to the closure of rail traffic in the south-north direction, a source from the Porto Metropolitan Subregional Command in Luz said.
Speaking to Lusa, a source from the Sub-Regional Command of the Porto Metropolitan Region said that the man died in a train collision that occurred at 8:06 a.m. in Espinho, on Rua N.º8.
“The northern line is closed in the south-north direction,” that is, in the Espinho-Porto direction, he added.
The same source could not indicate when the line would reopen to traffic.
It involves six people and two vehicles from the Espinho Fire Service, members of the PSP and CP – Comboios de Portugal, and a team from the Vila Nova de Gaia Ambulance and Resuscitation Service.
The body will be transported to the Institute of Forensic Medicine, the same source said.
