TAP falls with low profit: 400 thousand euros in 6 months

TAP ended the first six months of the year with a profit of about 400,000 euros, according to information released by the airline on Thursday. The accounts were in the black thanks to positive results achieved between April and June, as losses in the first quarter approached 72 million euros.

In the balance sheet for the semester, the company headed by Luis Rodriguez explains the “green” accounts, namely, income from ticket sales, income from maintenance and design, and an increase in capacity. Another reason why Morning mailrelates to the cancellation of reserves in the amount of five million euros.

With a fleet of 99 aircraft, the company carried around 7.7 million passengers in the first six months of the year, up 1.6% on the same period last year. At the start of the second quarter, TAP reopened five destinations from Lisbon (Ibiza, Alicante, Palma de Mallorca, Menorca and Agadir) and launched a new route from Lisbon to Caracas with a return flight via Funchal (Madeira).

“The high figures in the second quarter,” the TAR President stated, “allow us to achieve a positive net result for the semester, which, despite the reduction, has been achieved for the second time in a row, but now without a reduction in wages.”

The company ended the semester with 7,617 employees, 173 more than the same period in 2023.
