The owner of the building in Odivelas rents apartments T3 and T4 at a maximum price of 550 euros to help young people aged 25 to 35 leave their parental home and gain independence.
In an interview with PublicRosario Olio, 67, spoke about his affordable income program, which has already given young people the opportunity to get an entire house for the same price as a room.
In Odivelas, the average rent for apartments T3 and T4 is 1049 euros per month, which is almost double the amount that Rosario charges from tenants, young people aged 25 to 35.
Rosario wants to be an example for other landlords who have the opportunity to create something similar. “I have a house in Madragoa, in Lisbon, which I rent to foreigners at a very high price. You pay three rents here. Are cheap rents profitable for foreigners? Public.
