The fire consumes a patch of shrubs and sugarcane in the city of Almada de Ouro, parish of Azinhal, municipality of Castro Marim.
The alarm was announced at 16:21. The fire has an active front, which goes towards the city of Junqueira. Another front, advancing towards the Guadiana River, has already been captured.
From 22:00, a weakening of the wind is expected, which will create more favorable conditions for extinguishing the fire. The location is difficult to access, which led to the operation of tracked vehicles.
142 operators with 50 units of equipment are involved in the fight against the flames. Spanish aviation is already involved, which in the meantime has withdrawn from the theater of operations.
