French Olympic Committee (CNOSF) President Brigitte Henriquez, elected in June 2021, resigned at the General Assembly today, 14 months before the Paris 2024 Olympics, the body announced this Thursday.
Brigitte Henriquez, former vice-president of the French Football Federation (FFF), has stepped down after a year and a half of conflicts, internal rivalries and “open war” with her predecessor, Denis Masseglia.
General Secretary Astrid Goujar will provide temporary leadership of the Olympic body until a new president is elected “in the next three months,” the CNSOF said in a statement.
“The situation is no longer stable, she made the right choice,” responded the president of one of the federations, who was present at one of the most crowded meetings of the organization, quoted by the French news agency AFP.
CNOSF has been in an unprecedented crisis for more than a year and a half, between threats and revelations, revelations and e-mail exchanges in the media.
This “climate” has become unsustainable in recent days after Denis Massella filed a breach of trust suit against Brigitte Henriquez.
“This resignation is a way to resolve this crisis, it was a very noble act,” said the president of another federation, who was also quoted by AFP.
