The youth gang committed 21 robberies in four months in the cities of Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia. The group, made up of young people between the ages of 16 and 23, operated primarily in schools and metro stations, resorting to violence to commit crimes. In total, 7,396 euros in cash, watches, mobile phones and sneakers, as well as other valuable items, were stolen.
In accordance with Newspaper, the robbers beat the victims with their fists and feet. They carried knives to make their threats more convincing, and at least two people were stabbed.
It should be noted that in some of these episodes the group managed to steal only one and two euro coins, but there were cases when they managed to extort hundreds of euros. The robbers forced several victims to withdraw money.
The first robbery took place on February 4, and the last on record was on June 2, 2022. Two young men, both 18 years old, took on the role of leaders of the group.
According to the deputy, the thefts only stopped when the participants were arrested and placed under house arrest. Now they are responsible for crimes related to theft, violation of physical integrity and misuse of cards, devices and other payment data.
