Information about the renewal of the parliamentary mandate of Pinto Moreira came at the end of the week, when other SDP figures, including MP Carlos Eduardo Reis, saw his name appear in a series of TVI / CNN Portugal reports, and who report that, as part of Operation Tutti Frutti telephone conversations and communications have been intercepted that point to an alleged “secret deal” between the PSD and PS for each party to retain leadership of some parish councils in Lisbon for the 2017 municipal elections.

On Thursday, at the end of the SDP bench meeting, Carlos Eduardo Reis stressed that he was not accused and that he was never heard despite his requests to do so, and when asked about the political conditions for remaining an MP, said that it would be evaluation of you, which you will do daily.

“I am the one who gives this assessment, my business activities over the years are at stake, this is not my mandate here in the Assembly of the Republic, and not my public office. It is important that this line be drawn,” he said.

On the same occasion, SDP parliamentary leader Joaquim Miranda Sarmento sent an assessment of his mandate to MP Carlos Eduardo Reis, but considered that, having not been accused of any trial, there was “no reason” for him to take any action. solution.

“I understand that the deputy will have to assess whether he has the conditions, but the rule was the question of the charge, and in fact he is not charged. (…) The deputy has no reason to take any decision his mandate is considered.

First in a tweet by President Luis Montenegro, and then in the voice of General Secretary Hugo Soares, the SDP said on Tuesday that the party “will not tolerate any ethical or legal violations”, asking for an expedited investigation before the court of inquiry. an alleged exchange of favors between the party and the PS in the 2017 municipal elections, and the topic was brought up for discussion with Prime Minister Joaquim Miranda Sarmento on Wednesday, drawing some criticism at Thursday’s collegiate meeting.
