Eight Sexually Exploited Vietnamese Rescued from Captivity in Luanda

The Angolan authorities released eight Vietnamese women from captivity and arrested another citizen of the same nationality, accused of promoting prostitution and wrongful imprisonment, a representative of the Criminal Investigation Service (CIS) said.

The investigation found that the accused has an accomplice, who is allegedly her partner, the owner of the shipyard where the women were found.

Manuel Haliva said that as part of the investigation, there were reports of the sale of recruited women.

The duty officer emphasized that the rescued women were hidden in the basement, which would be difficult to detect in the event of a local check.
