Parliament this Wednesday tentatively scheduled a hearing for the Assistant Secretary of State to the Prime Minister for June 6 and approved a request for a SIRP review board hearing on the recovery of a computer from the Department of Infrastructure.
At a meeting of the Committee on Constitutional Affairs, Rights, Freedoms and Guarantees, the SDP deputy and the chairman of this parliamentary body, Fernando Negrao, announced that the hearing on the case of António Mendons Mendez, mandatory required by the Liberal Initiative (IL), was scheduled for June 6 at 15:00 .
Negrao, however, noted that this timetable is pending approval by the President of the Assembly of the Republic, Augusto Santos Silva, as the hearing will take place at the same time as the plenary session.
“As soon as we get this permission from the president or not, I will naturally inform all the deputies,” he said.
This hearing was requested by the Liberal Initiative (IL) and the subject is the intervention of the Under Secretary of State to the Prime Minister “in the seizure of computer equipment in the possession of the former Under Secretary of Infrastructure. Security Information Service (SIS).”
At this meeting, the deputies also approved the IL’s request to urgently hear the Supervisory Board of the Information System of the Portuguese Republic (SIRP) on the same issue.
This application has been approved by the votes of PSD, PSD and IL. Chega, Bloco de Esquerda, PCP, PAN and Livre were present during the voting.
