Paraplegic businessman Philippe Pozzo di Borgo died this Thursday at the age of 72 in Marrakesh. The Frenchman inspired the plot of the film Incredible Friends.
Pozzo was born in 1951 to a Corsican family. He became paralyzed at the age of 42 after a paragliding accident. After the death of his wife, he had to hire someone to support him.
Friendship with Abdel Yasmine Sellou, an Algerian assistant by nationality, was born from an incredible meeting, which later became known throughout the world. First through the biography of an entrepreneur, then with a documentary and finally with Incredible Friends, which became one of the most successful films in France.
The death was confirmed by the filmmakers, who glorified the man who changed the lives of many people. “By agreeing that we adapt his story, he changed the lives of many fragile and vulnerable people. We keep the image of a brave, dignified, humble and militant person,” wrote Eric Toledano and Olivier Nakache on Facebook.
