The City of Porto will host teachers, students and professionals from several countries for three days to discuss the challenges of making schools more inclusive, fair and pluralistic, the theme of the Global Schools Forum 2030 starting on Monday.
From Monday and for three days, Alphandega do Porto will host the second Global Schools Forum 2030, this year focusing on themes related to inclusiveness, equality and pluralism in schools and societies.
The meeting will bring together professors, experts and students from about 20 countries, as well as politicians and representatives of dozens of non-governmental organizations.
The Schools 2030 Initiative, the Aga Khan Foundation’s education program that reaches more than 1,000 schools in ten countries, was launched last year in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, to “create space for a global community connected to teaching collective rethinking” . the future of education”.
This is what will happen until Wednesday in Porto as part of a program that includes three large discussion panels on how to promote more inclusive, equitable and pluralistic education in the early years of schooling and in all education systems, in addition to opportunities, equally inclusive, fair. and pluralistic for youth.
In addition to panel discussions that will bring together government officials from around the world and representatives from organizations such as UNICEF and the Aga Khan Foundation, the three days are also filled with more than 20 “workshops” and other debates.
Among the main topics discussed will be the role of teachers in inclusion, the importance of different pedagogical practices, inclusive education, the role of civil society, the active participation of young people, gender equality and the climate crisis.
The event is expected to be attended by Minister of Education Joao Costa, Deputy Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Ana Catarina Méndez and Secretary of State for Integration Ana Sofia Antunes representing Portugal.
Also participating will be researchers from the Universities of the Algarve, Porto and Católica do Porto, as well as students from the Basic School do Vale de San Torcato, Guimarães, and teachers from the school groups of Algueirao and Ferreira de Castro, both in Sintra. who participate in the Schools230 program.
The program was created 10 years ago to help teachers and students identify and implement small educational innovations, but with an impact on the education system, to improve holistic student learning outcomes.
At the Forum, students will take part in a “workshop” on how personal bias affects learning and well-being, while teachers will discuss innovation in preschool and why some policies to include students with disabilities are ineffective.
