Seven young people aged between 15 and 19 were arrested this Sunday on suspicion of aggravated robbery in Lisbon. According to a statement by the Public Security Police (PSP), the crimes were committed in the areas of Santos and Bairro Alto.
Agents were aware of two robberies in Santos. With the help of a pistol and a knife, young people intimidated and forced the victims to hand over their belongings.
“With this information, steps were quickly taken to intercept all those involved in a short timeframe, and the weapons used in the crime, as well as the stolen debit card, were recovered,” PSP said in a statement.
During the PSP operation, it became known that an hour earlier the suspects had committed a similar crime in Bairro Alto. Young people stole 1365 euros from the victim (mobile phones and cash).
“The gun used was a weapon used for recreational purposes (Softair), however, it was enough to instill fear and make the victims behave as the perpetrators intended,” explains the source of authority.
The detainees will be present at the first judicial interrogation to learn about coercive measures. Two young people will have to be present in the family and juvenile court.
